SCADA

Embark on your digitalisation journey with SCADA solutions

Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) is system comprising of both hardware and software components to monitor factory processes. SCADA systems are essential as they help to process and analyze data, control industrial processes remotely or locally, directly control devices such as valves, pumps, human machine interfaces (HMI), and communicate system errors to minimize downtime.

A typical SCADA architecture will have the following components:

  • Sensors or any measuring device

  • Programmable logic controllers (PLCs) or remote terminal units (RTUs)

  • Computers with SCADA software

The various components within the SCADA architecture enables information from the factory floor to flow smoothly to a factory operator. Any discrepancies, errors or issues that occur in the industrial processess will be captured on the measuring devices, which can then be transmitted to the factory operator through the PLCs or RTUs. This enables factory operators to respond to issues in a timely manner, and avoid unplanned downtime or critical errors from taking place.
